Sorry to hear you're facing the same problem Dylan. You prompted me to try something I thought about the other night - and it works. Whilst I still have absolutely no luck with O2 Connection Manager, you can still connect to the internet at least I can with the Alcatel XD modem supplied to me:.
To install the USB modem on a Mac, just insert it and follow the instructions. click the temporary drive icon on your desktop to show the installation software. If you're trying to set up O2 Mobile Broadband using a Mac you won't use Connection Choose your dongle and view your user guide for the instructions.
The Telephone Number, Account Name and Password should already be populated mine was all just sat there. Click 'Connect' - mine found a 'connection' within seconds but took a further 20 seconds before it actually let me access the internet.
Quick note - I also prefer this method than the bloated O2 software - the downside is that you don't have the visual reminder of bandwith used. Posted on Nov 4, 7: Page content loaded. Nov 4, 6: Nov 4, 7: Nov 22, 8: I have the same issue, however I also have the issue that the Mac does not recognise that the dongle has been plugged into the USB port.
The dongle does however light up and the green light flashes! Jan 6, I've just bought the same Alcatel XD dongle and am experiencing a similar problem to Sawtest: Verify your settings and try reconnecting. Jan 8, 9: Jan 8, Update - I went into an O2 store last week to ask a 'Guru'!
He said they now don't sell the USB dongles for Mac users as none of them work!! He suggested trying another carriers USB dongle. Not at all helpful when I'm on contract with O2.

I don't have an old connection manager and I can't find Huawei mobile partner. Their website is awful. Don't understand why it won't work. It tells me the device was installed properly, then it tells me again, then it announces that it didn't install properly. I can access the o2 usage details, I can access wifi, but I can't access 3g.
Ditto vis 3. I have got a dongle from three about 18 moths ago and it worked fine with Leopard. Any helpful comments, advice thanks. Not sure what to do now as I do not want to be tied to a contract. You are here:
It comes up with the error which is something to do with the remote access connection thing. Open the "run" command in admin mode , type, msconfig then ok, a panel will open, click on services, scroll down and make sure that the 2 items- Remote Access etc are enabled.
Hi thanks I tried that one earlier but it said it couldn't find the file or something. I did get it all to work on my work laptop straight away, so that's a relief seeing as my phone line is being disconnected on Friday. I must have done something to my own laptop. Maybe I will do a system restore back as much as I can and hopefully that will fix it. In your start menu "search box" - type systemconfig, a file named "System Configuration" should show, - right click on it, open as administrator, then click on the "services" tab, the 2 items of "Remote Access etc" are about halfway down, tick the boxes to enable them, click ok, it asks to restart computer, -- then see if that works for you, -- good luck.
